Microchip The MCP9700 sensors with Linear Active Thermistor™ Integrated Circuit (IC) comprise a family of analog temperature sensors that convert temperature to analog voltage.The low-cost, low-power sensors feature an accuracy of ±4°C from 0°C to +70°C while consuming 6 µA (typical) of operating current.Unlike resistive sensors, e.g., thermistors, the Linear Active Thermistor IC does not require an additional signal-conditioning circuit. Therefore, the biasing circuit development overhead for thermistor solutions can be avoided by implementing this low-cost device. The Voltage Output pin (VOUT) can be directly connected to the ADC input of a microcontroller. The MCP9700 temperature coefficients are scaled to provide a 1°C/bit resolution for an 8-bit ADC with a reference voltage of 2.5V and 5V, respectively. The MCP9700 output 0.1°C/bit for a 12- bit ADC with 4.096V reference.The MCP9700 provide a low-cost solution for applications that require measurement of a relative change of temperature. When measuring relative change in temperature from +25°C, an accuracy of ±1°C (typical) can be realized from 0°C to +70°C. This accuracy can also be achieved by applying system calibration at +25°C.In addition, this family is immune to the effects of parasitic capacitance and can drive large capacitive loads. This provides printed circuit board (PCB) layout design flexibility by enabling the device to be remotely located from the microcontroller. Adding some capacitance at the output also helps the output transient response by reducing overshoots or undershoots. However, capacitive load is not required for the stability of sensor output.

The patented charge-transfer signal acquisition offers robust sensing and includes fully debounced reporting of touch keys and includes Adjacent Key Suppression (AKS ) technology for unambiguous detection of key events. The FlashFreeze technology used in IGLOO devices enables entering and exiting an ultra-low power mode that consumes as little as 5 µW while retaining SRAM and register data. FlashFreeze technology simplifies power management through I/O and clock management with rapid recovery to operation mode. The Low Power Active capability (static idle) allows for ultra-low power consumption (from 12 µW) while the IGLOO device is completely functional in the system. This allows the IGLOO device to control system power management based on external inputs (e.g., scanning for keyboard stimulus) while consuming minimal power. Nonvolatile flash technology gives IGLOO devices the advantage of being a secure, low power, singlechip solution that is Instant On. IGLOO is reprogrammable and offers time-to-market benefits at an ASIClevel unit cost. These features enable designers to create high-density systems using existing ASIC or FPGA design flows and tools. IGLOO devices offer 1 kbit of on-chip, reprogrammable, nonvolatile FlashROM storage as well as clock conditioning circuitry based on an integrated phase-locked loop (PLL). The AGL015 and AGL030 devices have no PLL or RAM support. IGLOO devices have up to 1 million system gates, supported with up to 144 kbits of true dual-port SRAM and up to 300 user I/Os. M1 IGLOO devices support the high-performance, 32-bit Cortex-M1 processor developed by ARM for implementation in FPGAs. Cortex-M1 is a soft processor that is fully implemented in the FPGA fabric. It has a three-stage pipeline that offers a good balance between low power consumption and speed when implemented in an M1 IGLOO device. The processor runs the ARMv6-M instruction set, has a configurable nested interrupt controller, and can be implemented with or without the debug block.
